Are you ready to launch your career in Emergency Medical Services? Our Basic EMT course in NYC prepares you to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician, equipping you with the hands-on skills and clinical knowledge to respond confidently in real emergencies. Even if you’re just starting or switching careers, our program is designed for beginners with no prior medical experience. Emergency Care Programs has trained EMTs across New York City since 1984, and our street-tested instructors will guide you every step of the way.

How the course works: Our EMT basic training program uses a hybrid format. Online lectures are delivered via Zoom (approximately 40% of coursework), while hands-on skills labs are held in person (approximately 60% of coursework). Your first-day orientation takes place in person at our training facility.

What You’ll Learn in Our Basic EMT Course

Our EMT training program covers everything you need to pass your certification exam and enter the field with confidence. Here’s what’s included:

Classroom Learning

Study the foundations of emergency medical care, anatomy and physiology, patient assessment techniques, and Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols.

Hands-On Skills Training

Practice critical techniques through real-life simulations, including CPR, airway management, trauma response, splinting, and patient transport. This is where your classroom knowledge becomes muscle memory.

Clinical Experience

Shadow experienced EMTs in a clinical setting and observe how professionals handle real emergencies, building your confidence before you’re on your own.

Certification Exam Preparation

Our EMT basic training classes are structured around NREMT exam requirements. You’ll complete practice scenarios, review sessions, and skills check-offs designed to help you pass on your first attempt.
